Phnom Penh (FN), August 31 - The National Election Committee (NEC) has appealed to Khmer citizens who are working or studying abroad to return for voting registration.

Registration will begin on September 1 and end on November 9, a period of 70 days, according to the NEC.

Registration will only be available at registration offices located in Cambodia, not at embassies or borders.

The 6th National Assembly election will take place on July 29, 2018. To vote, citizens have to be on the 2017 voter list.

According to the Ministry of Labor, there are currently more than 1 million Cambodian workers abroad.

The NEC estimates that the total population of Cambodia is 15.8 million with 9.7 million eligible voters. However, 1.4 million have not yet registered.
