Phnom Penh (FN), September 12 – Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP)'s lawmaker, Son Chhay, has dismissed the remarks of CNRP vice president Mu Sochua regarding the decision to not join the election race.

The reaction was made during press conference on Tuesday morning and he confirmed that CNRP will still participate in the upcoming election in 2018.

On Monday, Mu Sochua claimed in front of the Tropang Tlong prison in Tbong Kmom province that CNRP will not attend the National Assembly election in 2018 unless Kem Sokha, president of CNRP, was released.

“We need a free, fair, and just election, and if Kem Sokha did not participate in the upcoming elections, we cannot participate”, stated Mu Sochua.

“The Permanent Committee has decided that we will continue our work as usual”, stated Son Chhay.

"CNRP has many members, but the Permanent Committee is the leader of the party. Individual’s decision is not the Committee's decision” he added.
