Phnom Penh (FN), September 13 – Phay Siphan, spokesman of the Royal Government of Cambodia said on Wednesday night that the US Embassy’s security message was only inciting and distorting the situation in Cambodia.

The reaction was made following the U.S Embassy released a statement to alert Americans on security matter on Wednesday.

"Recent developments, including the arrest of a political figure, the expulsion of an American NGO and its foreign staff, and anti-American rhetoric by officials, may raise the overall tensions in the country. We urge all U.S. citizens to exercise caution. Even demonstrations or events intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence without warning," according to the U.S's Embassy security message.

"The U.S. Embassy encourages you to avoid large crowds and immediately leave any area where crowds are gathering," the message added.

“This is exaggerated and misrepresented true situation in Cambodia. Such information made a political unrest in Cambodia that need not to be worry”, stated Phay Siphan.
