Phnom Penh (FN), October 31 - Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith plans to stop broadcasting foreign commercials next year to encourage more domestic commercial broadcasts.

"We will try to reduce foreign commercial broadcasts because we have local artists and editors. We are now pushing for the adoption of a movie clip", stated the minister at Film Festival on Monday.

The minister added that the ministry is currently organizing the "golden hour" (7PM-9PM), not to broadcast foreign films or commercials, but Cambodian ones.

"This is the sixth anniversary of this festival. About 158 movies have been filmed this year with more and more supporters. Our future producers can move into the movie industry within those short films, and this is a niche for training artists and stage organizers to learn”, he added.

Chaktomuk International Film Festival is a regular event for Cambodian youth who love the movie industry to have the opportunity to display their works and to learn more about film industry as well as strengthening and expanding the future of Khmer movies.
