Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 15 – The U.S Embassy in Cambodia finally sent an official letter to the Director General of Cambodia Mine Action Center (CMAC) Heng Ratana on Wednesday to inform that the U.S would continue to provide assistance in the demining activities.

He said the received a letter from the U.S Embassy in Phnom Penh on Wednesday saying that they continue to support CMAC in demining activities from January until February 2018.

According to the Director General, the two-month grant amounted to about $350,000.

He thanked the U.S for continuing to support this operation, and added that the CMAC will continue to put their efforts to remove those landmines from Cambodian territory.

Meanwhile, China has also announced to support Cambodia in clearing unexploded remnants and ordnances, regardless of whether it is the United States or any other country.

Heng Ratana told Fresh News on November 6, that the U.S has ceased aid, with an amount of $2.5 million per year for demining activities in Cambodia.
