Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 15 - Heng Ratana, the Director General of Cambodia Mine Action Center (CMAC), signed with Japan International Cooperation System (JICA) to receive $7 million grant for demining operations.

Japan provided $3,536,700 to implement the first project including assisting mine clearance, helping mine victims, and supporting 500 operational forces from January to December 2018 in Battambang.

A budget of more than $3,742,592 for purchasing additional equipment, such as five demining machineries and 46 tents for mine operational forces.

"These two projects amounted over $7.3 million for mine operation in 2018,” said Heng Ratana.

At the same time, Heng Ratana also thanked the Japanese people and government for providing support to CMAC forces and Cambodians victims.

In the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and Premier Li Keqiang on November 13, 2017 in Manila, Philippines, the Chinese government has promised to help clear unexploded land mines and ordnances in Cambodia.
