Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 16 - Canada donated more than $130,000 to support Cambodia Mine Action Center (CMAC) in demining operations.

The meeting was held between Senior Minister Ly Thuch, secretary-general of the CMAC Authority, and Allison Stewart, current Chargé d'affaires at Office of the Embassy of Canada.

Ly Thuch said part of the fund would be provided to CMAC's national operations to clear land mines and explosive remnants of war while some amount would be used to help the victims.

Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his deep gratitude to Canada for supporting Cambodia's mine clearance sector in the past and present.

"This is another step that Canada has taken to support Cambodia after the break in the last few years," said Ly Thuch.

Ly Thuch also expressed his appreciation to Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, for supporting CMAC demining activities and keeping good relationship with Canada.
