Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 11 - Representative of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court has summoned Sam Rainsy, former president of Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), to appear in court on January 11, 2018, to clarify charges of inciting an army to rebel against the government.

Vong Pheakdey, a lawyer for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), filed a complaint against Sam Rainsy to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Thursday morning for the involvement in inciting national armed forces to topple the ruling government.

“Sam Rainsy had urged the Cambodian national armed forces to turn against the government, and his incitement early December was seen as an offense to both the commander-in-chief and the national armed forces, which stimulated instability in the country,” stated in the reported file.
