Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 12 - The United States has requested Cambodia to continue searching for the American soldiers' deceased bodies in Cambodia during the war, after Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced the moratorium.

The US proposal was made during a one-hour meeting between U.S Deputy Assistant Secretary Patrick Murphy and Cambodian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ouch Borith, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' office Tuesday afternoon.

Ouch Borith told Patrick Murphy that the U.S military bodies exploration was operated by PM Hun Sen since the 1980s, based on the spirit of humanity. However, the decision was made recently due to the closure of visa for Foreign Ministry officials.

He added that if the visa-withdrawal of Cambodian Foreign Ministry officials was canceled, co-operation on the exploration would also be resumed.

Prime Minister Hun Sen has given an exclusive interview with Lim Cheavutha, Fresh News CEO, on September 14, declaring to suspend cooperation with the United States on searching for American soldiers’ bodies deceased in Cambodia.
