Preah Sihanouk Ville (FN), March 10 – A cruise ship, Sun Princess, with 2,000 multi-national tourists docked at Sihanoukville seaport at 7:00 A.M this morning of March 10, for a visiting purpose, according to Col. Sieng Leng, Chief of Sihanoukville Autonomous Port police.

The police officer added that the ship had a total of 1,975 tourists on board with 16 different nationalities, and a crew of 867 with 42 nationalities. The cruise came from Vietnam and was on its way to Thailand at 4:00 P.M this evening.

While number of tourists coming to visit Sihanoukville is on the increase, the seaport city is still facing many challenges that will have to be addressed. They include environmental pollution resulting from poor private cleaning services, lack of road lighting, security, human resources in tourism sector, lack of pedestrian path or too small or insufficient sidewalks and high service fees during holiday seasons, said Nou Sophal, Director of Sihanouk Ville’s Department of Tourism.
