PHNOM PENH, March 18 (FN) — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has disclosed the names of ministers who will be either removed or reshuffled in a parliamentary vote of confidence on April 4, according to his letter released to the media on Friday.
In his Wednesday letter sent to National Assembly President Heng Samrin, the prime minister requested Samrin to hold a parliamentary vote of confidence for his cabinet reshuffle.
According to the letter, Hor Namhong, at his request, will be terminated from his position as the minister of foreign affairs, but he is still holding the position of a deputy prime minister.
Current minister of posts and telecoms Prak Sokhonn will be appointed as the minister of foreign affairs, while transport minister Tram Ivtek will become the minister of posts and telecoms.
Commerce minister Sun Chanthol will be assumed as transport minister, as commerce secretary of state Pan Sorasak will be appointed as commerce minister.
Water resources and meteorology secretary of state Veng Sakhon will become the minister of agriculture, replacing Ouk Rabun who will be appointed as the minister of rural development.
Current minister of rural development Chea Sophara will be assumed as the minister of land management, urban planning and construction, replacing outgoing minister Im Chhun Lim.
Current minister of cults and religion Min Khin will be removed and substituted by former culture minister Him Chhem.
Also, Keat Chhon will be terminated from his position as the permanent deputy prime minister at his request.
Hun Sen said Thursday that the cabinet reshuffle aimed to increase work efficiency.
"April 4 is the day for voting to change the composition of the Royal Government, which aims to increase work efficiency,"he said during a university graduation ceremony in Phnom Penh.
The fifth term government was established in September 2013. Its cabinet comprised one prime minister, nine deputy prime ministers, 15 senior ministers, 13 ministers attached to the prime minister, 27 ministers and hundreds of secretary of states and undersecretary of states.
