Phnom Penh (FN), March 22 – The United Nations’ Special Rapporteur for Human Rights Ms Rona Smith arrived in Cambodia yesterday for a 10-day visit to find out about women’s rights and the rights of ethnic minority groups in Cambodia.

According to a press release by the UN office in Cambodia, Ms Rona Smith will conduct her visit on March 21 through March 31 during which time she is scheduled to meet with senior members of the government, the Senate and the National Assembly.

She is also scheduled to meet with representatives of the civil society, UN agencies in Cambodia as well as community groups. She will be visiting a number of provinces in Cambodia with a view to collecting information directly from the fields where she is visiting.

Ms Rona Smith was appointed as Special UN Rapporteur for Cambodia to replace Mr. Surya-Prasat -Subedi in March 2015. She paid her first visit to Cambodia in September last year.
