Phnom Penh (FN), March 24 – France sets to provide €154 million (around $172million) to Cambodia for socio-economic development projects for 2016-2017, said a press release issued on March 24, by the French Embassy in Cambodia.

According to the press release the aid would cover two main sectors among the investment priorities of the Cambodian government namely support to Cambodia’s potential of production sector and that of human resource development. In this context, France will finance a number of agricultural and rural development projects (rehabilitation of irrigation projects that would support 50,000 ha of farmlands) and rehabilitation of rural/urban infrastructure that include renovation of 1,200km of roads in rural areas, renovation of the Central Market, construction of clean water stations in Chroy Changvar and Niroth as well as financing the electrical cable extension project.

France also contributes to the much-needed human resource development in Cambodia through its support to higher education, researches and vocational training (especially in the areas of tourism and textile).
