Phnom Penh (FN), April 1 – Over the past three months, Jan-Mar, 2016, 98 Cambodian overseas workers including women were rescued and repatriated and over 20,000 were sent to different countries for work, with South Korea receiving most of them, as many as over 1,000.

Spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chum Sounry said the government has helped 98 Cambodian victims of different forms of abuses, to repatriate to Cambodia. Among them, were 13 women working in China; 38 in Malaysia; one in Laos; one in Saudi Arabia, two in Russia, 36 in Vietnam, and seven working in Thailand.

At the same time, spokesperson, 22,853 Cambodian workers were sent to work overseas, of whom, 1,368 are working in South Korea. From 2007 to 2016, the total number of Cambodian workers in South Korea accounts for 44.194.
