PHNOM PENH (FN), April 4 – In the wake of a media report that Cambodian Minister of Justice has purchased a stock market share in a firm registered with British Virgins Islands, the Ministry issued a press release today, April 4, denying that the Minister neither knew nor had bought any share in the firm.

The Ministry of Justice said the media report that Justice Minister Ang Vong Vathana spent $5,000 to purchase a share in 2007 in a business firm registered with British Virgin Islands is untrue. “The false information could lead to misunderstanding among the people and could cause harm to the reputation of the Minister of Justice,” said the press release.

The Ministry of Justice would like to also call on media networks to carefully verify their information, their sources and all reference documents before publishing their reports in order to avoid causing harm to the Minister’s reputation, the press release said.
