PHNOM PENH (FN), April 5 – Prime Minister Hun Sen, today, April 5, decided to cancel the Phnom Penh –Airport Express Way project as a result of a number of local people protesting against the project and demanding that a public forum be held to discuss the impact of the construction project.

During the inauguration of the new administration building of Phnom Penh Municipality, the premier also told responsible authorities to dismantle a portion of the railway linking Phnom Penh to Km 6 (Russey Keo district) and instead, turn it into a public road that will help to address part of the problems with traffic congestions, since using the railway is not needed anymore.

People living near to the planned Express Way should not be worried anymore, added the premier.
