Phnom Penh (FN), July 17 - National Election Committee (NEC) Secretary-General Hel Sarat on Tuesday confirmed that there will be three security guards with one long gun and at most 30 bullets at each polling station to protect the security and order in the upcoming parliamentarian elections, speaking at the NEC's meeting with relevant institutions on functioning electoral campaign and indelible ink experiment, held at NEC headquarter, Ministry of Interior.

The three security guards are required to wear uniforms and NEC arm mark at all time until the end of their duties.

NEC puts efforts to prevent any attempts that could damage or obstruct the process of the election; to ensure a peaceful, neutral, free, fair and just election; and to provide security services to eligible voters, political parties and candidates, and national and international observers.

In order to achieve a smooth election process, the NEC appealed to the Commune Election Commission, authorities at all levels and all stakeholders to respect and implement the NEC's guidelines and procedures, and the code of ethics.

The July's election will be held on 29 July 2018. All the 20 political parties has participated in the 21 days of electoral campaign from 7-27 July 2018.
