Phnom Penh (FN), May 5 – Apparently referring to the results of the annual survey of press freedom of countries around the world by an international organization called Reporters without Borders, and to join the celebration the World Press Freedom Day, May 3, Prime Minister Hun Sen wrote on his Facebook page yesterday, April 4, that press freedom in Cambodia is widely flourishing.

“What happened during the World Press Freedom Day celebration under the theme of ‘Access to Information is Your Right’ clearly demonstrates that the government is supporting and upholding freedom of the press widely in the country and considers the media an important player whose role is to disseminate information to the public and expose truthful and timely information gathered from every source and corner of the society,” wrote the Premier on his Facebook page.
He also said that journalists should carefully verify their information with sources and must be courageous to timely publish apology for any error or mistake with their report. In the meantime, journalists should also report and publish what are good and in the interest of the nation, he added.

According to Reporters without Borders, Cambodia press freedom was ranked the best for the year of 2015 among the ten ASEAN member States.
