Phnom Penh (FN), August 2 - Cambodia was attacked non-stop. Historical wars from Angkor era until the present time, and interferences from neighboring countries and the powerful continue to negatively impact this unfortunate kingdom. Being pressured, many foreigners take the opportunity to take advantage of Cambodia.

Regardless of the bitter colony, interferences into internal affairs, economic sanctions and political pressure, Cambodia is still a small nation like a rabbit trying to survive among the famish groups of wolves, leopards, and lions that are hunting endlessly.

This lifelong struggle has strengthened the spirit of the kingdom from fear to strength and as time passed by built strong and friendly allies. The pain hurts this nation so bad, but she is fortunate and proud of having her leaders and the supreme commander with good experience which made the enemies give up.

More success, more attacks. Envy, competition, and pressure are malicious strategy against Cambodia by those who see the bad side of Cambodia, including Khmer and foreigners. They do whatever it takes to disrupt Cambodia.

With only 20 years of peace, the foes like the US as a leader and their associates pressured Cambodia in a new economic and political context.

Cambodia has suffered too much, Cambodian people suffered even worse. Peace achieved by sacrifice lives, blood, sweat, and tears were harassed continuously. Only once in 1993 they appreciated Cambodian election, thanks to UNTAC. They believed what they did was always good.

In 1998, Cambodia was accused of holding elections violating the principle of neutrality and justice that it was unacceptable by some powerful, especially the United States. Regardless of the accusation, the top Cambodian leaders continued to modify and organize the election and develop the country to a point where the world has looked upon. In 2003, the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) continued to lead despite losing some seats in the National Assembly. In 2008 and 2013, Cambodia was still able to hold her own elections with technical assistance from her allies.

CPP continued to win. Succeeded with tears, the party was frown upon and insulted, even accused of cheating by the opposition.

Some of the world’s powerful countries continue to vigorously support the opposition party, and to pressure CPP and the government to accept conditions contradicting to the wills of people who love peace. Fortunately, this country still has a well-qualified leader and a great commander in every battle, for he has continued to forward Cambodia to a better place endlessly.

If the situation continues this way, Cambodia will suffer the greatest tragedy, and if Cambodians cannot adapt and forget some pains, and take the kindness of their people, the achievements that should not be overlooked, and great diplomacy of their current leaders, Cambodian and their children will cry more than smile.

If Khmer people do not know how to close their ears and open their heart and mind to accept certain facts, some foreign statements on the election process of Cambodia will become louder that will break apart Cambodians from one another.

If the superpowers really favor peace and democracy, they should turn to support the voice of more than 6 million people, an equivalent to 82.89%, who made the decision fairly, transparently, without intimidation but with high responsibilities to maintain peace, stability, development, and harmony for people like other countries.
