Phnom Penh (FN), July 27 - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, head of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), said that dissolving former main opposition party is to avoid war, addressing to workers from factories in Meanchey district on Thursday morning.

He highly commended the general situation after the national assembly members election 2018; people did not fear anything compared to situation after 2013 election.

“We implemented legal measures to eradicate the traitors who attempted to overthrow the legitimate government and bring the country back to war. We tried our best to safeguard peace at any cost [...] And if we do not destroy them, maybe we would be in war at this hour,” said the premier leading approximately 250,000 members to conclude the electoral campaign on Friday at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center and Wat Botum, Phnom Penh.

He emphasized that CPP had invested lives to liberate Cambodia from the genocidal regime, and brought peace back to the nation, which is the root for survival, for the rights to living with dignity, and for the development of the nation phase by phase.

It is worth nothing that in 2013, Cambodia had lost security and order, caused by the opposition groups during and after the election.

“If I could not manage the situation, war would have happened,” the premier underlined.
