Phnom Penh (FN), August 3 - Edward Wilson, a mayor of Signal Hill in California, U.S, was shocked by the overwhelming number of Cambodians who went to vote for their representatives in favor of the 6th National Assembly members election, held on 29 July 2018.

During his meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An on Friday in Phnom Penh, the mayor said that Cambodia even had higher voter turnout compared to other countries around the world.

Men Sam An said that Edward Wilson's visit to Cambodia was at the right timing to see the parliamentarians election held with the principle of liberal multi-party democracy.

She said that Cambodian general elections 2018 had 20 political parties racing, indicating that Cambodia has a genuine democracy, with more than 82.89% of the registered voters going to vote to exercise their rights.

The electoral process was monitored by international observers and commended as a free, fair, transparent and non-violent election.

Edward Wilson informed Men Sam An that during his stay in Cambodia, he visited many provinces and met with many friendly Cambodians. He also appreciated and valued the development of Cambodia.

On that occasion, Men Sam An asked Edward Wilson to help bring the truth from Cambodia to his people.
