World (FN), Aug. 5 - The percentage of voter turnout does not depend solely on whether the country is a free, open or closed liberal democracy.

In fact, the United States, the world's most populous country, had a lower voter turnout rate than many other countries.

In 2018, Cambodia ranked the second world's highest percentage of voter turnout, 82.89% following Belgium 87.21%.

According to PEW Research Center, only 55.7% voters turned out at the US presidential election in 2016, while France and Great Britain got 67.93% and 63.25% respectively.
