RIYADH, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabian national carrier airline announced on Monday to suspend flights to and from the Canadian city of Toronto from next Monday, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The decision was the last of a series of moves Saudi Arabia taken to express rejection to the statements of the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland and the Canadian Embassy in Riyadh.

The Canadian foreign minister and the embassy urged the immediate release of the civil society activists who were detained by Saudi government.

Saudi has earlier asked the Canadian envoy to leave the country within 24 hours and recalled its ambassador from Canada. It also puts on hold all new business and investment transactions with Canada.

The airline highlighted that any cancellation of tickets will be accepted with no extra charges applied. The company promised to make all efforts to find solutions to passengers who have booked flights to or from Canada.
