Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 7 — More than 34,000 women gave birth to nearly 35,000 babies; they received approximately $3 million from the government, counting from 1 January to 7 August 2018, according to Ith Sam Heng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training on Tuesday.

Ith Sam Heng added that each mother received 120% salary and a three-month off.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on 1 January 2018 has decided to allocate approximately $10 million annually for maternal support to garment workers.

Each female worker who delivers one child receives 400,000 Riels ($100), a twin receive 800,000 Riels($200), and a triplet receive 1,200,000 riel ($300).

The policy has effectively assisted livelihoods of female workers.
