Phnom Penh (FN), August 9 - H.E. Alan Peter S. Cayetano, Foreign Affairs Secretary of the Republic of the Philippines sent a letter on 5 August 2018 to Prak Sokhonn, Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs, congratulating the successful of Cambodian elections, according to Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC).

"On behalf of President Rodrigo Duterte and the Filippino people, I wish to congratulate the Cambodian Government and its people on the peaceful and orderly conduct of its recent national elections", according to MoFAIC's press release issued on Wednesday.

The Philippines is the third member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which has proclaimed Cambodia's elections after Laos and Vietnam. Apart from the three ASEAN member countries, China and other international organizations have also endorsed the election process in Cambodia.

According to the National Election Committee (NEC), 82.89% of voter turnout in Cambodian general election 2018 reflects that Cambodians learnt to exercise their rights to vote to elect their political parties in favor without pressure or coercion.
