Koh Kong (FN), August 14 - Following the successful sixth Sea Festival in Kep, the Royal Government of Cambodia set Koh Kong as the next province to host the 7th Sea Festival 2018 from 14-16 December.

Ministry of Tourism and Koh Kong Administration met on Tuesday at Koh Kong Provincial Hall to discuss the preparations, presided over by Minister of Tourism Thong Khon and Koh Kong Governor Mithona Puthorng.

Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, set six strategies to better host the 7th annual Sea Festival, including (1) train and strengthen the quality of tourism services; (2) boost infrastructure as well as accommodation facilities; (3) guide local people to have well-decorated home and be ready to provide additional accommodations; (4) facilitate travel and accommodation of Thai and Cambodian people on the Thai-Cambodian border to enhance good relations and cooperation between the two people; (5) cooperate with Ministry of Commerce to organize special exhibitions of local products as well as quality art performances and a variety of sport activities; and (6) establish an inter-ministerial working group to coordinate and organize the Sea Festival and collaborate with the Provincial Working Group.

As the number of tourist increased, he hoped that the three-day Sea Festival will attract approximately 300,000 national and international tourists.

The minister stressed that in the 2018 Sea Festival in Koh Kong, Cambodian side will coordinate with the Thai side to facilitate border crossing for the two people.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife will preside over the 7th Sea Festival in Koh Kong.

Cambodian Sea festival is a celebration of Cambodia’s coastline, as Prime Minister Hun Sen says, “Cambodia has been recognized as having the most beautiful bays in the world.”
