Jakarta, Indonesia (FN), August 19 - President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and International Olympic Committee member Ser Mieng expressed their congratulations on Samdech Hun Sen, President of ruling Cambodian People's Party, for being elected as Prime Minister of Cambodia in the 6th mandate by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni.

The congratulation was extended during a courtesy call on Thong Khon, President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia and Secretary General Vath Chamroeun, on 19 August 2018 following the opening ceremony of the 37th OCA General Assembly.

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and Ser Mieng applauded Cambodia on the successful host of Olympic Games on 5-7 May 2018, and wished the premier to continue achieving great success in leading the government.

According to Vath Chamroeun, the 37th General Council focuses on reports on the progress of preparations to host games such as: 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya China 2020, 19th Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou China, 20th Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya Japan, Tokyo, Olympic Games 2020, Beijing Winter Olympic Games 2022, and ANOC World Brach Games 2019 San Diego, USA.

Cambodia is attending the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia, with 13 sports and 43 Cambodian athletes.

The 2018 Asian Games, held from 18 August-2 September, was hosted by Indonesia for the second time since 1962, with around 10,000 athletes from 45 countries and regions competing in 40 sports, making the second-largest program in Asian Games history.

2018 Asian Games was hosted in Palembang, the capital city of the South Sumatra Province. The city's historical landmarks, its rich culture and culinary heritage make it among the most favorite tourist destinations in Indonesia. Palembang hosted the Southeast Asian Games in 2011 and the city has its own airport.
