Phnom Penh (FN), August 22 – United Nations stands ready to be Cambodian partner in implementing Cambodia's National Development Program for the 6th mandate Royal Government, according to Ket Sophann, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC).

The statement was made Wednesday when the Assistant Secretary-General of UN and Director of the Regional Bureau for Asia and Pacific at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Haoliang Xu paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Foreign Affairs Senior Minister Prak Sokhonn at the ministry.

Haoliang Xu praised Cambodia's progress in reducing poverty by 50%. However, Cambodia needs to prioritize sustainable development by minimizing negative impacts of development activities, the spokesman said.

He added that UNDP, a non-political organization, provides intellectual and technical supports to all countries, particularly in Asia-Pacific region.
