Phnom Penh (FN), August 22 – President of Cambodian Youth Party (CYP) Pich Sros expressed satisfactions on the establishment of the "Supreme Council of Consultation - SCC" that will work to bring national interests for further development.

"Cambodian Youth Party would like to clarify to the public that working in the SCC does not mean we will work for the ruling Cambodian People’s Party. We work to serve the nation and people of all political tendencies," Pich Sros wrote in the statement dated on Wednesday.

He added that, “We are still the opposition party, an independent and non-aligned party. Please, the public, not be misled by the incitement of a group that is destroying Cambodian society.”

“Supreme Council of Consultations – SCC”, initiated by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on 21 August 2018, aims to exchange ideas among the 16 political parties to bring about the best policies for the national development.

“SCC will reflect our unity and solidarity in accordance with democracy,” the premier underlined.

According to the government’s spokesman Phay Siphan, SCC’s secretariat and meeting places are based at the Peace Palace. Each party appointed two representatives be the delegation to the SCC; chairman of SCC is shuffled once a month based on political party order on voting list.

SCC holds internal meeting once a month summoned by the chair, and holds meeting with Prime Minister once every six months. Other meetings are compulsory by calls of the premier. SCC’s term will end based on the Royal Government mandate.
