Phnom Penh (FN), May 16 – On May 16, 2016, Cambodian Red Cross led by President Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen handed over $1 million to Kantha Bopha hospsital with a view to enabling the hospital to continue its medical support and services to children in the country.

The hand-over ceremony was held at Cambodian Red Cross headquarters in Phnom Penh and was attended by Health Minister Mam Bun Heng and Dr. Beat Richner, founder of Kantha Bopha hospital, and many other CRC officials.
Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen said the amount of $1 million handed over by CRC today was part of the contribution raised during the recent commemoration of the International Day of Red Cross and Red Crescent, May 8, during which both local and international generous individuals and charitable made their great donations.

“I would like to commend Kantha Bopha hospital, and particularly the management, for setting up this hospital to provide support to children all over the country, a move that has shared a large burden that would have to be shouldered by the government. The hospital today has been named ‘Divine Hospital’ by most people for the fact that is has save children’s lives all over the country…” said Samdech Bun Rany, adding that the $1 million support this time is the fifth of its kind to support the hospital and children.
