Phnom Penh (FN), August 30 – Prosecutor Ky Rithy decided Thursday to continue detaining former opposition leader Kem Sokha for another six months at Tropang Phlong prison in Tbong Khmum province where a hearing was held this morning.

In March 2018, Phnom Penh Municipal Court decided to detain Kem Sokha to investigate his crimes.

Sokha was arrested at his house in Toul Kok, Phnom Penh at 00:35 am on 3 September 2017. He appeared in a video published by CBN, speaking of his plans supported by foreigners to topple the legitimate government of Cambodia. His offence subjects to a penalty of 15 to 30 years in prison based on Criminal Code, charged with “conspiring with foreigners”.
