YANGON, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar regional police authorities have arrested labor protest leaders attempting to pass the barricades and enter Nay Pyi Taw , official media reported Thursday.

Workers from a factory owned by Myanmar Veneer and Plywood Private Company in northwestern Sagaing region staged demonstration against their employer Wedenesday.

Rejecting the offer by the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman for negotiation in accordance with the labor law, the demonstrators tried to pass the barricades set up by the local police to block them from entering the capital.

The police took disperse action on the crowd and sent them back to Sagaing, the report said.

Legal action will be taken against the leaders of the protest which was held without permission from the authorities, the report added.
