Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 16 - National Assembly spokesman Leng Peng Long told Fresh News Tuesday that Sam Rainsy was not invited to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, but his presence at the IPU was to clarify the complaint he submitted to the IPU.

“According to the information I received, Rainsy did not attend the IPU General Assembly, but he went there on the request of one Commision to clarify the complaint he submitted to IPU requesting for intervention,” the spokesman clarified following a claim that Rainsy will deliver a speech.

“Rainsy is not invited. He just walks around the General Assembly,” the spokesman added.

The exiled opposition leader Sam Rainsy’s name was not in the name list of Cambodian delegation attending the IPU.

According to the name list Fresh News received on Tuesday, only Second Vice-President of the Cambodian National Assembly, Ms. Khoun Sudary was invited to attend the 139th General Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union by Gabriela Cuevas Barron, President of the IPU.
