Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 24 - First Vice-President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) Ly Thuch and Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Cambodia Tina Redshaw, on Wednesday, presided over the launching of Program of the Department of International Development (DFID) at HALO Trust office in Siem Reap.

The Ambassador confirmed that the UK, through the Disinfection and Arms Policy and Program of the DFID, continued to support three operators, including NPA, HALO Trust, and MAG organizations working on landmines clearance in Cambodia, mine awareness, mine media, and capacity building until 2020.

Senior Minister Ly Thuch, on behalf of Prime Minister Hun Sen, thanked the UK government for their support on demining sector in Cambodia and requested the United Kingdom to continue their support until 2025 in line with 2018-2025 National Mine Action Strategy.

The DFID provided more than £7 million (over $9 million) for landmines clearance in Cambodia until 2020.
