Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 28 - From 24 to 27 October 2018, H.E. Khuon Sudary, Vice-Chairperson of ICAPP Standing Committee, Co-Chairperson of the AEPF, Second Vice President of the National Assembly, and Standing Committee Member of the Cambodia People’s Party (CPP) led a delegation of the CPP to participate in the 10th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) focusing on two main topics namely, “the roles of political in reducing international tensions and combating extremism,” and “the importance of international inter-party cooperation in the formation and development of political, economic, social ties between states,” according to CPP’s press release dated on Sunday.

“The 10th General Assembly (GA) of ICAPP was auspiciously attended by 400 delegates from 70 political parties from 36 countries. It was hosted by United Russia Party which was represented by the esteemed members of the party including H.E. Dmitry Medvedev, the prime minister of Russian Federation who chaired the closing session. The GA unanimously adopted a Moscow Declaration which welcomed the decision by the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) to hold the official launching of the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) in Phnom Penh on 11-12 February 2019 under the tenure of Samdech Akeak Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, as the honorary founding chairman,” the press release added.

It continued: “The declaration emphasized that sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence and equality of all states, peaceful settlement of international conflicts, non-interference in internal affairs, and consensus orientation, among others, would serve as the cornerstone of the ICAPP principles. In addition, the rise of violent extremism has continued to pose a serious threat to international peace and security which can be defeated through sustainable and comprehensive cooperation among political parties and governments.”
