Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 14 - Outgoing US Ambassador to Cambodia William A. Heidt requested the US government to consider lifting visa sanctions from Cambodian senior foreign affairs officials in order to strengthen the cooperation of the two countries, speaking in a courtesy call on Minister of the Interior Sar Kheng on Wednesday at the Ministry of Interior in Phnom Penh.

Minister Sar Kheng expressed his appreciation to the ambassador and said that if the US removed the visa sanctions, it would be a big gift for Cambodia and that it would strengthen cooperation between the two countries, according to the spokesman Phat Sophanith.

It is worth noting that on 14 October, the Royal Government of Cambodia announced to relaunch the search for remains of American soldiers based on humanitarian and human rights grounds, particularly the sentiments of victims' families.
