Phnom Penh (FN), June 9 – World class’s Japanese footballer Keisuke Honda has agreed to help Cambodia establish a football training center, and help curb with drug issue, Khieu Sameth, Vice President of Football Federation of Cambodia (FCC) said Thursday.

Sameth said that Honda was on a two-day trip to Cambodia on a fact-finding mission to help develop football sector in Cambodia amid the number of football supporters is remarkably increased.

According to Sameth, Honda is considering to open a football center in Cambodia, a move of which he believed it will help reduce social problems such as drug use, and the youth will then be more focused on sports.

Honda, meanwhile, promised that he will garner more supports and sponsors from across the globe in order to help Cambodia on this field.

Sameth, however, said FCC and Honda have yet decided when and where a football center will be built, but hoped it might be materialized sometime early next year.
