Phnom Penh (FN), June 27 – Cambodian National Assembly spokesman, Chheang Vun, told the media that the NA is currently in the process of discussing disciplinary actions to be taken against those lawmakers from the Cambodian National Rescue Party who fail to perform their functions properly.

The statement by Mr. Chheang Vun, an MP from the Cambodian People’s Party, was made at the time that all the 55 CNRP’s lawmakers have boycotted a series of NA’s sessions and meetings to demand a political solution to the current situation and for the release of imprisoned activists and opposition lawmakers.

“Should CNRP’s lawmakers continue to perform the way they are doing, the NA then would consider certain disciplinary actions against them such as denying them the access to meeting, having their salaries deducted or taking back their vehicles,” Chheang Vun said.

Boycott by CNRP lawmakers of the NA’s sessions came in the aftermath of an attempt by the authorities to make an arrest of CNRP’s deputy president, Kem Sokha, for ignoring a court summons on a legal case related to prostitution.
