Phnom Penh (FN), July 8 – Cambodia’s export of textile, garment and footwear to the European Union has not been affected at all by the exit of Britain from the EU this year of 2016 and also in the following year of 2017, Heng Sour, spokesperson of the Ministry of labor and Vocational Training predicted.

Mr. Heng Sour told Fresh News today, July 7, 2016 that Cambodia has not been affected by the withdrawal of the U.K. from EU in regard of Cambodia exports to the EU. Everything stays the same and the EU market continues to be the top 1st, far ahead of the U.S. ever since 2008-2009 for the import of garment products from Cambodia.

“Though Cambodia has been out of the EU and does not want to be part of the EU, but the United Kingdom still maintain good international relations with other countries including Cambodia especially in terms of commercial exchange and import-export,” said Mr. Heng Sour.

Cambodia has over 1,000 garment and footwear factories all across the country and the European Union is the largest market for Cambodian products.
