Phnom Penh (FN), July 9 - Acting president of the opposition Cambodian National Rescue Party stressed that he did not want to see foreign interference in Cambodian affairs and instead wants the issues to be solved among Khmers and Khmers.

Mr. Kem Sokha made his remarks during the “Training Program for Kandal Provincial Leaders (Party Working Groups to Support Provincial, Municipal and District Executive Committees)” that was held at the CNRP headquarters in the morning of July 9, 2016.

“Are we able to solve our problems among Khmers and Khmers?” Sokha questioned in a post on his Facebook page. “My observation is that the harder Cambodian political factions are fighting each other the more foreign intervention exists, regardless of their good or bad intention. If we drag on the political conflict or let it grow, foreign interference becomes inevitable,” said Kem Sokha.

“So, I would like to call on Cambodian political parties to find ways of resolving our differences (disputes) among ourselves as Khmers and Khmers, should we don’t want foreign countries to interfere in our Cambodian political affairs,” Sokha concluded.

This is an appeal by the leadership of the Cambodian National Rescue Party yet in the absence of a clue on possible meeting and discussion between the CNRP and the Cambodian People’s Party due to the uncertainty surrounding the CNRP leadership when Mr. Sam Rainsy, the National Assembly’s minority leader is in exile and just keeps harshly attacking the head of the government while the acting president Kem Sokha does not dare to travel around as freely as he used to do, due to his implication with the lawsuits filed against him by Ms. Khom Chandaraty, also known as Srey Mom and Ms. Thy Sovantha.
