Phnom Penh (FN), July 9 – Another officer of human right organization Adhoc in Prey Veng province, Eang Kimly, was summoned to appear in Phnom Penh Municipal Court on July 26, 2016, as a witness in a case of bribery of a witness in connection with the sexual scandal that involved opposition party’s acting president Kem Sokha and her mistress Khom Chandaraty, Ly Sophanna, spokesperson of Phnom Penh Municipal Court told Fresh News this afternoon of July 9, 2016.

The spokesperson explained that the case was in connection with the accusation leveled against four Adhoc officers on bribery of a witness and against Mr. Ny Chakrya, a senior official of the National Election Committee on colluding in the bribery of a witness. The court official said the investigating judge will also summon some other witness to appear in the court one after another over the legal case.

“The investigating judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court issued a summons to Eang Kimly, Adhoc coordinator for Prey Veng to appear as a witness in the court on July 26, 2016, in the morning. The case is related to accusation against four Adhoc officers of bribery of a witness and against Mr. Ny Chakrya of colluding in the bribery of a witness. The investigating judge will also summon some other witnesses to appear in the court one after another over the case,” said the spokesperson.

Four Adhoc officers namely Mr. Ny Sokha, chief of investigation; Mr. Yi Soksan, deputy chief of investigation; Mr. Nay Vongda, deputy chief of investigation; and Ms. Lim Muny, senior investigation officer and Mr. Ny Chakrya, deputy secretary general of the National Election Committee, are in detention respectively under charges of bribery and colluding in bribery of a witness after having been questioned by the court and the Anti-Corruption Unit.

They were arrested and put in detention after Ms. Khom Chandaraty, also known as Srey Mom, had released an open letter elaborating the reasons why she failed to tell the truth to the authorities that she had had serious affairs with Mr. Kem Sokha, acting president of opposition Cambodian National Rescue Party. In the letter Srey Mom said she had been instructed by the five people not to tell the truth to the authorities.
