Phnom Penh (FN), October 12 – Prime Minister Hun Sen invited via his Facebook page all overseas Cambodians to come and visit Cambodia and to witness the true situation of the country’s development at present, after decades of destructive wars, so that they would no longer have the negative perception of Cambodia and would not continue to be mislead by certain propagandists.

“Cambodia is making progress day by day under the leadership of Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen. We would like to invite all Cambodian people overseas especially the elderly, who have been living abroad for quite a long time and have just listened to slanderous propaganda by a certain ill-intent group, to come to Cambodia and witness the country’s great achievements brought about by Samdech Prime Minister,” according to a message wrote and posted on the Prime Minister’s Facebook page today, October 12, 2016.

In the meantime, the premier also slammed those ill-intent propagandists that false and malicious reports would not be of any benefit to the nation and they would be just ignored anyway.

The invitation by Prime Minister Hun Sen to overseas Cambodians to come and visit the country came amid series of protests in Australia led by Mr. Hong Lim, an Australian MP for Victoria State, and a team leader of the opposition party, against the visit in Australia by Hun Manet, the Prime Minister’s eldest son.

Many Cambodians fled the country and migrated to other countries during the war, especially in the 70s. Now that peace has been brought back, some of them continue to live overseas while others have returned and have joined the country’s reconstruction and development.

Nevertheless, not only that some of those people have chosen to stay abroad but also they have listened to lots of slanderous propaganda by the leaders of the opposition Cambodian National Rescue Party that Cambodia is in a horrible situation and that Cambodia remains under Vietnam’s influence.
