YANGON, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- A combined force of two ethnic armed groups continued attacking military outposts of Kutkai and Mongkoe in northern Myanmar's Shan state over the last two days, official media reported Thursday.

The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) launched artillery attacks against Kutkai on Wednesday at 6:40 a.m. local time and a mortar explosion 300 meters west of the Oriental Toll Gate with no casualties reported, the Army Office said.

At 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, nearly 30 KIA troops also assaulted the Mongkoe outpost.

Moreover, the combined force destroyed a bridge in Muse on Tuesday morning and attacked an aid convoy of government troops delivering provisions to the forefront.

The government troops are in pursuit of the armed groups after these incidents, a report said.

Military conflicts broke out in the border area of Shan state on Nov. 20 morning with an alliance of three ethnic armed groups launching surprise attacks on government's military outposts and police stations in Muse and Kutkai towns as well as a border trade center in Muse.

The alliance targeted military outposts and police stations in Muse, Kutkai, Monekoe, Kyukoke, Phangsai, Pangsang, Manken and Kyinsankyawk (Honang).

According to updated official figures, 14 people were killed and 50 got injured in the conflicts. The dead were three policemen, one militia and 10 civilians, while the injured were 11 policemen, two government employees and 37 civilians.
