Phnom Penh (FN), Jan 5 – Cambodia's Appeal Court decided on Thursday to delay hearing of opposition Senator Hong Sok Hour to next month.

According to the court official, Sok Hour’s lawyer requested for a border treaty expert to be present at the hearing and access to internet to collect evidence and that the absence of appellant this morning of Jan 5. 2016 are the results of the delay.

However, Appeal Court's Judge Seng Sivutha responded that the request of Sok Hour’s lawyer is not rational, but the delay is properly addressed reasoning that such criminal case could not be processed without a lawyer.

Sok Hour is facing three charges including document forgery, the use of fake public documents, and incitement to serious unrest on social security after he posted a fake section of the 1979 border treaty between Cambodia and Vietnam on Sam Rainsy’s Facebook Page last August.

In relation to the same case, Sam Rainsy, president of Cambodia National Rescue Party was sentenced late last month to five years in prison together with his two assistants.
