Phnom Penh (FN), Jan 10 – Cambodia will send 80 trainers to study in three skills in Singapore after signing MoU on Collaboration in the Field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training between Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training of Cambodia and Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Republic of Singapore, according to Heng Sour, spokesperson of Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour.

“Through the MoU, Singapore’s ITE will train 80 Cambodian trainers; 32 in Information Technology, 32 in Mechanical Engineering, and 16 in Electrical Engineering”, said Heng.

According to Heng, these trainers are currently working in Technical and Vocational Education Institute. After getting trained, these trainers are required to pass on the knowledge to other trainers.

Singapore’s ITE is a renowned institute in the region for technical and vocational education. Based on the MoU, these trainers will be specifically trained to fulfill Cambodia’s market demand and to support industrial development policy of Cambodia.

During the 4-day visit of Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam, two following documents were signed - Memorandum of Understanding on Collaboration in the Field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training between Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training of Cambodia and ITE (Institute of Technical Education) Education Services, Republic of Singapore; and Memorandum of Understanding between Calmette Hospital, Cambodia and Tan Tock Seng Hospital Pte Ltd, Singapore.
