Phnom Penh (FN), Jan 27 – Cambodia said it required at least $406 million of assistance to clear all landmines by 2025.

“Cambodia requires $406 million to clear all landmines by 2025. There are millions of mines remaining that threaten the lives of Cambodian people, particularly chemical bombs dropped by the U.S during War in Vietnam”, said Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA)’s First Vice President Serei Kosal during the recent meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Xiong Bo.

Serei Kosal thanked the Government and the People of China for financial and technical assistance in mine clearance mission while requested China to continue assisting Cambodia to clear all the landmines by 2025.

Xiong Bo pledged to bring the request to Chinese leaders and continue supporting Cambodia in humanitarian mine clearance.
