Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 26 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that Cambodia's stance on Russia-Ukraine war has contributed to successfully hosting the 2022 ASEAN Summits and Related Summits.

The premier spoke in a meeting with Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Phnom Penh members, held on Saturday (Nov 26) at the CPP headquarters.

"Cambodia's independent diplomacy based on laws on the case of Russia and Ukraine made 2022 ASEAN Summits a success," the premier wrote on his Facebook's page.

Many world’s leaders and chiefs of top international institutions attended ASEAN Summits physically hosted by Cambodia and that the kingdom has become a hub for global leaders to meet and find solutions to address regional and global challenges, the premier said.

On 2 March 2022, the United Nations convened an emergency convention to vote on a resolution condemning and demanding that Russia withdraw its troops from Ukraine. Of the 181 countries, 141 including Cambodia, voted in favor of the resolution; five voted against the resolution; and 35 abstained.
