Oddar Meanchey (FN), Feb 3 – A father and son were killed and two others were injured by a landmine in Oddar Meanchey, approximately 450km northwest of Phnom Penh.

The incident happened Thursday evening while the victims were excavating for high-quality timber. The injured men were sent to the hospital, while the bodies of the two men were returned to their family.

The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), Cambodia’s leading demining organization, is currently working in the key areas of Survey and Land Release, Mine and UXO Clearance, Mine and UXO Risk Education and Training, Research and Development.

CMAC also found two other dangerous chemical bombs two weeks ago in Svay Rieng. Hundreds of students and monks were evacuated from the site, according to Heng Ratana, director general of CMAC.

Approximately 3 million tons of bombs were dropped in Cambodia from 1963-1975 with the excuse to kill Vietnamese invaders but it actually killed 500,000 Cambodians, as told by former U.S President Bill Clinton.
