Stung Treng (FN), March 4 – The new anti-drug task force, in cooperation with the BLO, arrested a Laotian drug trafficker carrying  approximately 5kgs of methamphetamines Saturday morning at the Cambodia-Laos border.

The Anti-Drug Department of the Interior, Yinn Panharith, released the identity of the man as Thav Mai Sorn, a Laotian national.

“The suspect has a history of dealing drugs. He was working with criminals located in Vietnam who had placed an order for 30 to 50 kg of drugs," confirmed an anti-drug police officer.

Prime Minister Hun Sen launched the task force to fight illegal drug trafficking in January 2017. The initiative is expected to continue through June.

The anti-drug campaign is led by the Interior Minister, Sar Kheng who serves as the Deputy Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister, with Ke Kim Yan serving as President of the National Authority for Combating Drugs.
