(Phnom Penh): A contingent of 184 troops of Cambodian Engineering Unit who were on a one-year UN peace keeping mission in Lebanon returned home on Sunday afternoon.

Their repatriation was welcomed by Director-General of the National Center for Peacekeeping Forces, Mines and ERW Clearance (NPMEC) as well as their relatives and siblings. The contingent was to be replaced by a new one that departed the country yesterday.

Learning from its experiences of hosting the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) (1991-93), Cambodia started to contribute uniformed personnel to UN peacekeeping operations in 2005.
